Title I

The purpose of the Title I, Part A grant is to ensure all children receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education while closing achievement gaps (under Section 1001 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act / Every Student Succeeds Act). As a recipient of federal Title I funding, our school is legally required to share important information and resources with our community. Below are key documents regarding our Title I program and family partnerships:

Inform Parents: This ESSA memo explains your right under federal law to request information regarding the professional qualifications of your child's teacher(s).
Ensure Accountability: This School-Parent Compact outlines our shared agreement between the school, families, and students to work together to support academic achievement.
Promote Transparency: This parent engagement document details how we partner with families in student learning and include parents in school decision-making.

We believe a strong partnership between our school and families is essential for student success, and providing this information openly is a vital part of that commitment.

Notice of Campus Surveillance & Video Retention Policy

In accordance with Hawaii State Department of Education (HIDOE) guidelines, Princess Nahiʻenaʻena Elementary utilizes surveillance cameras throughout campus public areas to maintain a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Notice of Use: Surveillance cameras are actively monitored and recorded to support campus safety, deter policy violations, and assist in investigations.
Video Retention Limit: To ensure maximum video quality and clarity during investigations, footage is stored on a rolling basis and is retained for up to thirty (30) calendar days, depending on system storage capacity and recording settings. In compliance with HIDOE mandates, all video recordings are automatically erased or overwritten within this 30-day window.
Retention Exceptions: Video footage involved in an active investigation or an incident regarding a violation of law or Chapter 19, Hawaii Administrative Rules (HAR) will be preserved beyond the standard retention period as required for administrative or legal proceedings.
